The students of the Highschool in Yalve Sanga (Colegio Indígena Yalve Sanga) received food kits from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Boquerón Government and the company “Altair”.
On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, 145 food kits for the students of the institution arrived at CIYS. This delivery was possible thanks to a modification of the contract with MEC, the Boquerón Government and the supplier company “Altair”. Before the start of the quarantine and the suspension of classes, the company provided the institution’s kitchen weekly with food to prepare lunch and dinner for the students. The change of the contract allowed the company to prepare food kits about 18 kg of food (milk, non-perishable food) for each student.
The delivery of the food is a challenge for the institution, considering that due to the quarantine the students are now with their families in different communities, neighborhoods or ranches. This requires logistical work so that all students can access their food kit. Therefore, also the community managers help at the local level with the delivery of the kits.
The food kit is a commitment of the ministry with the students and, on the other hand, students are also expected to fulfill their commitment to do the tasks that the institution sends them. Thus, the food should motivate the families to also strive with the learning process of their children.
