It is a constant challenge to diversify production, be it in stock breeding or in agriculture. The work team of the Agricultural department continues to investigate other branches of production.
For example, sheep farms were toured and other indigenous communities visited in an effort to see how they work; also the production of mungo, a variety of beans was investigated. It is also interesting to mention that ASCIM has worked together with MEDA Paraguay and the government of the Department of Boquerón to investigate the viability of sweet potato production. The results have not been very encouraging.
Moringa (leaves and seeds) is another branch of crop production but the prices offered until now have not been good enough, and so no commercial contract was signed.
Another option in production isthe sale of coals. Some communities produce coals and sell them on the local market.
