The program against the Chagas Disease began officially in 2017. The goal is to check the pregnant woman of the villages that work with ASCIM for the Chagas disease. The children of the women that have a positive result in the test must be examined again for Chagas disease at the age of 9 to 10 months. This activity was planned because the Chagas disease can be cured if treated in infants. Many cases of Chagas disease have been registered in the health program of ASCIM, people that suffer chronically under this disease, especially the mega colon. The work is done in cooperation with the national service called Senepa, which is responsible for the elimination of malaria. Senepa provides the necessary material for ASCIM.
